Remembrance Sunday at the cemetery

Thank you to everyone who braved the drizzle to pay their respects at the Cross of Remembrance today. After a short, informal ceremony and laying of wreaths we planted 4000 bulbs to help keep the cemetery a beautiful place to mourn and remember. Look out for them in the sections nearest the entrance in the Spring.

All were welcome at at Walthamstow Queens Road Cemetery to mark Remembrance Sunday in a informal and mindful setting plus plant some bulbs and wildflowers.

As has become tradition, every year on this day the Friends of Queens Road Cemetery hold a short ceremony for those who have sacrificed their lives in service of defending our freedoms. Anyone who wants to may say a few words, with a minute’s silence and laying of wreaths.

We then disperse around the cemetery to plant Spring bulbs and sow flower seeds that will help keep the cemetery a beautiful and peaceful place of remembrance for years to come.
