An an area with wonderful people and activities between Markhouse Road, Lea Bridge Road and Hoe Street, in Walthamstow, London E17

Over 20,000 bulbs planted

Local volunteers have sown more than double their target number of bulbs in recent months. They got many free from the council and more from shop sales.

Well done and a big thank you to all of he wonderful gardeners who did all this.

As well as thousands in Queens Road Cemetery the list includes

  • 500 bulbs Boundary road (between St Barnabas road and Chelmsford Rd)
  • 200 in Broomfield flower beds
  • 300 in Beaconsfield flower beds
  • 150 in Beaconsfield/Boundary Rds grass corner junction.
  • 550 in St Barnabas flower beds and boundaries
  • 500 in Alexandra Rd (cul de sac end)
  • 300 in Kirk/Lennox Rds
  • 900 in Thomas Gamuel Park (400 tete a tete and 500 crocus).
  • 100 Somerset Rd tree pits.
  • 100 Chelmsford Road street bed opposite Thomas Gamuel Park

Plus the following number of bulbs were distributed for others to sow:

  • 250 bulbs to Gosport road beds
  • 600 to Edinburgh primary
  • 400 to Queens Road station
  • 100 to Belgrave/boundary bed
  • 50 to Belgrave cargo planters
  • 100 to Stafford Close tree pits
  • 600 to Coppermill Lane flower beds.
  • 300 to Verulam avenue school street flower beds x3
  • 100 to Bowden road

Some bulbs have been reserved for planting in early 2024:

  • 500 drumstick allium for street beds
  • 200 camassia quamash for street beds
  • 100 camassia quamash for Thomas Gamuel Park border
  • 100 allium ping pong for St Barnabas/ Boundary
  • 200 oxalis for street beds.
  • 400 tete a tete and 200 white daffs in park hut for new rain gardens on mid Belgrave, Rutland and Devonshire.
